Firstly, a huge THANK YOU! to the nineteen (19) IMSTA members to have pledged funding for this very important project. We have covered off 76.5% of our budget to date. Late-comer pledges will be graciously received!
As you know IMSTA is in the process of finalising a Health Policy Paper which we will use to ensure that initial reforms to the procurement process for medical devices are included in the next programme for government.
Prospectus Consultants have been engaged to write the paper, with substantial input from IMSTA. To date we have visited the IDA, Dept. of Health, EI and Minister Simon Harris T.D. and have been garnering strong support along the way.
The proposal will involve a “whole of Government approach” to job creation, whereby the Department of Health, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform would work together under an Action Plan for Jobs initiative.
Our proposal is in line with Action 281 of the 2015 Action Plan for Jobs (APJ) and we want to ensure that APJ2016 calls for the development of IMSTA’s proposal for Small Business Innovation Research or similar test bed actions for innovative procurement related to health.
Expect to see and hear more on this in the coming months.
